Our Theme for 2017

Our Vision for 2016 and 2017

In his internationally acclaimed book, “Transforming Mission”, South African theologian David Bosch, helped the church re-recognise that God’s heart is for the world. His work revived the idea of the “Missio Dei” – the Mission of God.

Our God is a God who comes into the world. He creates the world and humanity, calls Adam, Abraham and Israel, and ultimately steps into the world through His Son and by the power of His Holy Spirit. When Christians are called to Mission, we are not going where God has not gone, but rather we join in with what God is already doing in the world.

And so our theme for 2016 and 2017 is the idea that the Christian’s most significant prayer is that God’s kingdom (His reign) is best made clear in our own lives. The challenge has been to allow God’s reign to be made visible in what we do and say.

We’ve realised that the church’s influence doesn’t lie in the activities of the church organisation, but rather in the lives and personal influence of our members. Our greatest impact will not be our programmes, but our people.

In 2016 we unpacked the nature of the Kingdom of God and how it could be unfolded in our lives. In 2017 we started with an emphasis on “Soul-Care” in January and for the rest of the year we will be unpacking the phrases of the prayer that Jesus taught us.
